Some Canadian jurisdictions list as prohibited grounds for discrimination criminal convictions that are unrelated to the position sought, criminal convictions for which a pardon has been obtained and/or convictions of an offence under provincial law. New Obligations for Ontario Employers in 2015
Bill 18, The Stronger Workplaces for a Stronger Economy Act, 2014 passed recently in the Ontario legislature. It outlines new obligations for employers. Two in particular include:
- Employer mandatory self-auditing for compliance with Employment Standards Act becoming effective May 20, 2015
- New ESA poster to be distributed to each employee effective May 20, 2015
