Military Example Proves its Difficult to Get Rid of Systemic Harassment

This recent article

outlines the struggles the Canadian military has had for decades in solving its sexual harassment issues. It was the main reason why one of our managing directors left the military and 19 years later it's sad to see nothing has changed. Without a solid change management process, including ensuring leaders walk the talk, blowing up the culture of silence and condonation and a true zero-tolerance policy, developing a new harassment-free culture will be difficult. Ensure your company's culture does not get entrenched in this manner by having a policy in place, training everyone on that policy, allowing complaints to be brought forward and swiftly investigating and dealing with them.

It's hard to believe there are only a few weeks left to summer. We've been busy assisting clients with their hiring needs as well as HR audits, policies, employee relations and employee attendance issues. However we have been fortunate enough to enjoy some downtime as well, cottaging, camping and volunteering throughout the summer months. As we
